As summer heats up, we at The Wellington Senior Living prioritize maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our older adult residents. Rising temperatures present unique challenges, especially in our senior living community, where residents are more vulnerable to heat-related issues. Our maintenance team follows some essential safety measures to ensure a safe, smooth-running, and pleasant summer for everyone.

We inspect air conditioning units regularly to ensure they function correctly and replace air filters to maintain air quality. Thermostats are set at comfortable temperatures, and cooling is monitored in common areas and resident rooms.

Team’s Maintenance and Safety Measures

  • Provide shaded seating in outdoor areas
  • Inspect and repair walkways to prevent trips
  • Increase pest control to keep areas free from insects
  • Check ventilation in common areas and kitchens
  • Inspect electrical systems to prevent overloads
  • Clean roofs and gutters to avoid leaks and water damage

We educate residents on staying hydrated and avoiding peak heat hours by distributing flyers and holding meetings. We also promote indoor activities during extreme heat to keep residents engaged and safe.

In our community, we check and change air filters every three months to keep AC units running smoothly and set all thermostats to 72 degrees during the summer. We are also installing shades over the courtyards. We also remind everyone to lock their car doors to prevent someone from seeking shade and accidentally falling asleep in a vehicle without ventilation.

Educating staff and residents about the importance of staying hydrated would benefit all Arrow communities. Promoting summer safety supports occupancy by hosting indoor events, providing shaded areas, and ensuring water is readily available for hydration. This demonstrates our commitment to residents’ health.

Following these tips ensures The Wellington Senior Living remains safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for all residents and staff throughout the summer months. Our dedication to maintaining a secure environment is essential to everyone’s well-being.
